Why should I pray? If someone were to ask you, “Why do you pray,” how would you respond? There are many reasons to pray, but for me, the most important reason is to establish and grow a healthy relationship with God. 

The bible tells us that we can pray to draw near to God (Psalm 73:28), to give thanks to the Lord (Colossians 4:2), or to ask Him for things we need to carry out our mission here on earth (Matthew 7:7). 

Prayer is a requirement for being a citizen of God’s kingdom. It keeps us in constant communication with the Father. If someone asks why we should pray, remind them that the prayers of a righteous person are powerful and effective (James 5:16).
